I have always been obsessed by doorways and windows. To me, they are not simply a means of moving from space to space; they are portals, each a gateway to another world. Apertures hide and reveal. They sit and view the world with unseeing eyes, yet hidden behind this blankness lie secrets and stories. Most of the photographs for this series were taken in Lebanon from 2014 to 2018. They are openings which have seen turmoil and conflict, watched violence unfold around them with their unblinking gaze. Yet they keep their memories hidden, even now when some are just gaping holes, paradoxes of formidable vulnerability.
